Why no mention in the obituary Of John's parents, David and Violet, surely the greatest influence on his life, career and personality?

Vivienne and Dorothy (sisters)

Of course they were. Several of us put this together in quite a hurry, trying our best in our sorrow to get something into the news so that folks would know what had happened. It was our oversight in grief to have (most regretfully) left them out.

And of course we also left out all of his wonderful brothers and sisters and those who have preceded him in death in Great Britain. We are terribly sorry. Shock and grief is our only excuse. I suppose we tend to live in our own little egocentric bubble, and to think of John as our father and patriarch, rather than a son and brother of others. Perhaps we should publish another obit in Scotland that is more accurate?

Vivienne, Dorothy and all - Nancy is right. We were in a blur - still are to a great extent. I apologize and want you to know this was not intentional. We were so anxious to get the information out to those who love and know him here - so many for whom we do not know how to contact. I hope you will consider a local publication as well as Nancy suggests. You need to know how intensely all of you have been in our minds since his death. You were the first people we contacted after his death. I am so sorry. Robin

Also - I want you to know that you are the main reason I thought of starting - and Linda built this lovely web site. So that you could build it with us from a distance.

Some of my earliest memories are of the Stark/Salem family --- the choir parties at their house, always feeling welcome. Nancy and Linda babysitting us, swimming in the pool, playing with Phoebe and Jennifer. John was a large part of the camaraderie that surrounded the members of the choir which made those people and gatherings larger then life for me. And Loco Joe's --- THE place of joy in my childhood. John was generous to the community of Wichita and magical in his ability to be down to earth with all he accomplished. His family is in my prayers as they deal with the grief of his passing.
